THE ANCIENT VILLAGE

IDEAL FOR FAMILIES AND GROUPS OF FRIENDS

Those in search of a more peaceful and romantic atmosphere can head for the ancient village of Montesilvano Colle, the true historic centre of the town, on a hill about 150 metres above sea level from which one of the most beautiful views in Abruzzo can be admired, with a view that runs from the most important mountain massifs of the Apennines, crosses the gently rolling hills and ends in the boundless blue horizon of the Adriatic.

Other activities can be alternated with the sea: a visit to the two Romanesque churches of the Madonna del Carmine (in the valley) and the Madonna della Neve (on the Colle), which house precious works of art; an easy trek on the wooded hills high above the sea (which in ancient times gave the town its name); a canoe trip to the mouth of the Saline River, with its precious botanical and ornithological biodiversity; or a tour by bicycle or electric scooter to discover the murals of the most famous Italian and European street artists, which colour the modern town.

BEACHES

SAND, SPORT AND RELAXATION

Montesilvano is one of the best-known seaside resorts on the mid-Adriatic coast, endowed with both considerable hotel accommodation located directly on the beach and just beyond the pine forest that runs along the seafront, and B&Bs and flats to rent for holidays.

The wide coastline of fine golden sand, the sea with shallow waters many metres from the shore, and the equipped lidos alternating with wide stretches of public beach make the town the perfect place for a seaside holiday in which the sea can be experienced to the full.

In the summer months, the promenade becomes a large pedestrian island, on which shows, concerts and markets take place, with a lively movida that frequents the numerous restaurants (of all types) and the many ice-cream parlours.
